A statement issued and signed by Abdul Wahab Shareef, the Chairman, praised the Asantehene for the exemplary leadership he was providing in the development of education and the sustenance of national peace and stability. It described the “Otumfuo Education Fund”, which has been supporting the academic pursuit of brilliant but needy students, as an enduring legacy of the Asantehene that should be cherished by all. It made reference to the command to Muslims by the Holy Prophet Mohammed, to seek knowledge, and said to them any “ruler who encourages and finances the search for knowledge is indeed a very wise ruler.” “We thank the Almighty Allah for granting us such a very wise ruler.
