Vodafone to establish high speed internet bandwidth at KNUST

Kumasi, May 9, GNA – Vodafone Ghana has decided to establish a 45-megabite high speed internet bandwidth at the Kwame Nkrumah University= of Science and Technology (KNUST), in Kumasi.

The facility is to help improve Information and Communalisation Technolo= gy (ICT) connectivity and enhance research work, teaching and learning, especially the distance education, tele-medicine and video conferencing. Mr. David Venn, Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Ghana, said these wh= en he presented 10 computers to the Faculty of Agriculture of the KNUST on Friday.

He said the ICT facilities if proved successful would be replicated in other tertiary institutions in the country. Mr. Venn said the Company was collaborating with authorities of tertiary=

institutions to bring ICT closer to students to facilitate their studies,=

adding that the establishment of the 45 megabyte bandwidth would put KNUS= T on the world map as one of the best in terms of ICT facilities. Professor William Otoo Ellis, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, thanked Vodafone and said the establishment of the facility would help th= e University to improve on academic work, especially the distance learning programme. 9 May 10
