Kade, April 18, GNA – The Kade District Magistrate court, has remanded Kwabena Nimako a landlord into prison custody for allegedly assaulting two persons and seriously injuring one of them. Nimako pleaded not guilty for repeatedly stabbing one of his victims with a knife and is to re-appear on April 27.
Giving the facts of the case, Police Inspector Francis Cobbina said at about 2045 hours on March 4, Nimako entered the room of his tenant, Philip Amu and attempted to disconnect a computer from the electricity supply.
Amu resisted the move compelling Nimako to query him about the one who gave him the permission to connect electricity to his room. Amu replied that it was the mother of the accused who gave him the go ahead but Nimako who was not satisfied with the response insisted that he was going to disconnect the power. When the tenant resisted him he knocked him down and beat him up. Amu reported the case to Asuom police and was issued with police medical forms for treatment.
Inspector Cobbina said 15 minutes after the incident, Eric Obeng, a friend of Amu who lived close to the house of the accused was returning home and met Nimako sitting in front of his house. The accused called Obeng and asked him provocative questions and before Obeng could respond, he pounced on him and assaulted him. When Obeng tried to defend himself, the accused drew a knife from his pocket and stabbed him on the upper part of his right eye and on the right shoulder.
Blood oozed profusely from the cuts and when he called for help, a witness went to the scene and succeeded in snatching the knife from the accused after a struggle.
The accused went home, brought a shovel with which he hit the witness on the neck who managed to seize the shovel. Obeng also lodged a complaint with the police and was issued with medical forms to attend hospital, leading to the arrest of the accused. 18 April 10
