Ashanti NPP Organizer to face disciplinary committee

Kumasi, April 6, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kennedy Kankam, has been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee over alleged unsavoury pronouncements, which many see as distasteful and divisive. He is reported to have said on the Angel FM in Kumasi that some leading members of the NPP were pushing hard behind-the-scenes for the prosecution of former officials in the Kufuor Administration. Mr. Samuel Pyne, the Ashanti Regional Secretary, in a signed press statement said the disciplinary committee, has been asked to conduct thorough investigation to ascertain the truth or otherwise of the matter. It vowed to act on the findings and appealed for calm among the party’s supporters.

The statement also appealed for a halt in public discussions of the matter to avoid unnecessary heightening of tension and fuelling of discord and disunity in the NPP.

The party disassociated itself from what Mr. Kankam was said to have stated on radio adding, he did not speak on behalf of the party. The NPP Regional Secretariat has been inundated with complaints and petitions since the reported infamous statement by the Regional Organizer. 6 April 10
