NDC youth lock up MHIS offices

Breman Asikuma (C/R) April 1, GNA – About 100 youth from the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Constituency of the National Democratic Congress, on Thursday, locked out workers the District Secretariat of the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme.

There were, however, no damages to properties.

According to the Breman Asikuma Police, the youth led by Mr Paul Kofi, the Constituency Youth Organiser, claimed that their action followed the inability of the District Assembly to investigate a petition sent to it on a number of allegations of malpractices against the secretariat. However, the District Chief Executive, Madam Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said the petition, received about four days ago, was being considered by the complaints Sub-committee of the Assembly. The DCE, therefore, condemned the action of the youth and urged them to exercise restraint for the Assembly to conduct proper investigations into their allegations.
