Finals Of The Embassy Chef Challenge Competition

Ghana was among 10 countries which participated in the finals of the Embassy Chef Competition held at the Swedish Embassy, on Thursday the 18th of March 2010. During this round, participating Embassies were required to prepare finger foods with local recipes from their respective countries. Chef Francis Otoo who represented Ghana as the only African country participating in this competition prepared “Kose’’ made from black-eye pea and shrimp with salsa to go with.

Other participating Embassies in the finals included: Hungary, Panama, Republic of Korea, Israel, State of Qatar, Republic of Serbia and Nepal. The competition was aimed at fostering good relationship between the various Embassies and to showcase the culture and traditional recipes of their countries.

The Swedish Ambassador His Excellency Jonas Hafstrom who delivered the welcome address stated that, Cultural Tourism DC provides an important service to the communities by linking cultural, heritage, and neighborhood organization with residents and visitors in the Washington, DC area.

Representatives from the Ghana Embassy present at the competition included: Mrs. Rose Agyekum who represented His Excellency Daniel Ohene Agyekum. Mrs. Edith Hazel, Deputy Chief of Mission, Mrs. Martha Pobee, Head of Chancery, Mrs. Vanessa Mensah-Adu, Head of Information and Public Affairs, and Mr. Kwadjo Boateng, Political Desk.
