Ho Poly students for Youth in Agriculture programme

Ho, March 25, GNA – Ho Polytechnic has begun activities towards preparing students in Agricultural Engineering for the Youth in Agriculture programme.

The thrust of those activities is Competence Based Training (CBT) which places greater emphasis on practical work in the Agriculture Engineering Department.

Mr Francis Dzineku, Registrar of the Polytechnic, told the GNA in an interview on Thursday that he hoped more students would enrol into the Agriculture Engineering Department of the Polytechnic to take advantage of the programme.

He said Agriculture Engineering students of the polytechnic were the toast of many industries and urged government to utilize their expertise for the Youth in Agriculture Programme. He said “all of them have general knowledge on the Programme and have specialized in soil and water, post harvest technology and machinery and mechanization areas” and these experts are needed for the success of the Programme.

Dr Samuel Addo, the Vice Rector of the Polytechnic and Head of the Agriculture Engineering Department, said it was focusing on “hands on, do it yourself” to ensure that students were well prepared for Programmes such as the Youth in Agriculture Programme.
