May Day dedicated to birth of Dr Nkrumah

Tema, March 24, GNA – This year’s May Day celebration has been dedicated to the birth of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s First President.

Mr. Elvis Van-Lare, Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), who disclosed this in Tema on Wednesday, said the theme for the event is: “Consolidating Workers’ Solidarity, and the Legacy of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.”

At a meeting with members of the Tema District Council of Labour, Mr. Van-Lare said that a symposium would be organised at the GNAT Hall in Accra to usher in activities for the celebration, on 21 April. He said a health walk for workers would take place on April 24 through some selected streets of Accra to be followed by a health screening. The TUC Regional Secretary, said that there would be a May Day Quiz at GTV in Accra on 25th April and the celebration would be climaxed by a panel discussion on radio and TV on the theme for the event.
