Two weeks capacity building for 170 Police Inspectors

Winneba (C/R), March 4, GNA – The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr Tawiah Quaye, on Thursday, stressed the need for the Police Administratio= n to develop dynamic strategies to curb the increasing spate of criminal activities.

He said this could be achieved through regular training in contempor= ary policing methods.

The IGP said this in an address read for him by the Central Regional=

Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner Of Police (DCOP) Akanyiri Kampari, at the opening of a two-week capacity building training for 170 Inspectors a= nd Chief Inspectors, who are mostly station Officers, selected throughout th= e country.

The officers would be trained in crime prevention and detection, prosecution, operational duties, traffic management, media relations, rec= ord keeping and information management.

He said the training would help update the knowledge of the participants and also keep them abreast with current development. He said “we are aware of the focal role played by station officers a= nd there is the need to adequately prepare them to meet the daunting challen= ges associated with their scheduled tasks”.

The IGP urged the participants to take the course seriously to enabl= e them to acquire the knowledge and competencies needed to perform their duties as Station Officers.
