Deodorant is harmful to children -Nursing Officer

Apam (C/R) Feb. 24 GNA – The Senior Staff Nurse in-charge of the Reproductive Health Unit of the Apam Catholic Hospital, Mrs Selina Bondzie, has advised parents not to allow their children to use deodorants because it could affect their health. She said deodorants being anti-perspirants could block the pulses while other users could suffer from boils when continuously used. Mrs Selina Bondzie said this at a lecture she delivered at the Apam Catholic Church on Sunday under the topic, “Adolescent Health and Development” She therefore recommended the use of lime to control bad body odour. Mrs Bondzie appealed to parents to provide their children especially the girl child with the basic needs so that they do not fall pray to men. The Parish Priest of the Church, Reverend Father Jude Ampah appealed to fathers to be more responsible and also take care of the needs of their children. He said the situation where fathers left the care of the children to the women was over. 2
