Tema, Feb 16, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court ‘B,’ has sentenced a 24-year-old mate to seven years imprisonment for defiling a 14-year-old girl. Kofi Dadzie pleaded not guilty.
Police Chief Inspector Evelyn Susuawa had told the court presided over by Mrs. Amanda Aikins that on October 28, 2007, the father of the victim took her to hospital after observing that his daughter was sick. Chief Inspector Susuawa said upon interrogation, the victim revealed that during the previous month Dadzie lured her and forcibly had sex with her on a bench under a nim tree behind their house. Chief Inspector Susuawa said on three other occasions, the convict had sexual intercourse with the victim in her father’s room when her father left for work in the night.
The prosecution said realizing that the victim was pregnant the convict gave her a concoction to terminate the pregnancy. A urine pregnancy test at the Tema General Hospital proved that the victim was eight weeks and five days pregnant.
