It has been announced that one of Ghana Diplomats; MR KWAME AMOAH – KUSI (aka Kwame Effah) has died at the age of 67.
Mr Amoah Kusi sudden death occurred on 24 January 2010 at Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Kumasi (KATH), after short illness.
He started his elementary and secondary education at Offinso in Ashanti Region and pursued french language courses from 1961 to 1964 in Ivory Coast.
After returning from there, he won a scholarship to continue his studies with the School of Translators of Ghana Institute of Languages Accra.
He later sent to Leipzig University for few months course on Translation and after that attached to school of Interpreters of University of Geneva in Switzerland as part of his professional training.
In 1967 he returned to Ghana to teach french language at Kumasi High School and from there joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as French and English languages Translator and Interpreter.
In 1969 he was seconded to the (OAU) Organisation of African Unity where he served for thirty years before retiring in 1999.
Before retirement, he headed the Permanent Observer Mission of (OAU) in the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York.
All along he worked with the former UN Secretary General Mr Kofi Annan from Ethiopia to the United States of America.
Through out his life he remained academic and was very good in International Languages.
His burial and final funeral rites will be held at Offinso Asamankama in the Ashanti Region on Saturday 6th March, 2010.
