Erection of telecom masts banned

Government has banned the mounting of telecommunications masts in the country until further notice.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 50% of the masts in the country have been erected without permit. The authorities intend to establish an inter-sectoral committee responsible of issuing guidelines on towers deployment in the country. Some operators, such as Kasapa, argue that the decision was made unilaterally and that it would slow down network deployments in rural areas.
