Farmer remanded for defiling seven-year-old girl

Juaso (Ash), Jan. 12, GNA – The Juaso Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Justice S.K. Sarpong Appiah, has ordered that a 50-year old farmer should be held in prison remand for defiling a pupil aged seven. Yaw Owusu denied the offence and would re-appear on Wednesday, January 20. Police Detective Inspector Mike Fritz Bekoe told the court that both the victim and the accused live at Konkoma near Ofoase in the Asante-Akim South District.

On December 20, last year, the young girl was asked by her mother to sell some vegetables together with her two other sisters aged 12 and six. He said Owusu invited them under the guise of buying some of the vegetables. The accused lured the victim into his room and asked her two other siblings to wait outside, where he sexually assaulted her. Police Inspector Bekoe said the girl informed her mother and a complaint was made to the police. A police medical form signed by doctors confirmed that the young girl had been defiled.
