Kumasi, Jan. 2, GNA – Twenty-four babies, 19 males and five females, were delivered at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi on New Year day, January 1, 2010.
Miss Lydia Biney, Midwifery Officer on duty at the KATH Labour Ward, who told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Saturday, said only two of the babies were born through Caesarean Sections.
At the Suntreso Government Hospital, Mrs Hanna Burtler, Midwifery Officer said 10 babies were delivered, six males and four females. She said, however, that the hospital recorded one still female birth. Mrs Comfort Atuahene, Midwifery Superintendent at the Kumasi South Hospital said out of the four deliveries, three were females and one male. At the Tafo Government Hospital, Mrs Augustina Frimpong, Senior Staff Midwife said three deliveries were recorded. Mrs Patricia Adu-Poku, Senior Nursing Officer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital said a baby was delivered on New Year day.
