Christians usher in New Year with mid-night services

Ashaiman, Jan. 1, GNA -Most churches in the Ashaiman Municipality were filled to capacity on New Year’s Eve, as Christians held vigils and mid-night services to usher in 2010.

At the Holy Ghost Assemblies of God Church at Ashaiman, Reverend Thomas Henry Quarmson, Senior Pastor of the Church reminded Christians that the New Year should be a new beginning for them. Rev. Quarmson urged Christians to bury their differences and reconcile with another, even with their enemies.

He expressed optimism that the New Year would bring new hope, prosperity and blessing to Christians.

Rev. Dr. Amponsah Frimpong, Head Pastor of the Central Christ Apostolic Church also in Ashaiman, advised Christians to learn to forgive one another, just as the Good Lord “always forgives their sins against Him”. He said the New Year could bring its own challenges and asked Christians to put their faith and trust in God in order to overcome those challenges. At the Central Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Divine Addae, Senior Pastor, urged Christians to continue to live in harmony with their neighbours.

Rev. Addae asked them to develop the spirit of sharing with their neighbours, irrespective of their political and religious affiliations. He encouraged Christians to use the occasion to renew their faith and trust in God.
