Rainstorm causes havoc at Half Assini

Half Assini (W/R), Dec 31, GNA – A rainstorm that hit Half Assini on Boxing Day injured three people and destroyed properties including buildings.

The wounded were Mr Yamdor Takuyesu, the leader of a fishing community and two members of the community. The building housing the offices of the National Commission for Civic Education and Labour Department were among those affected. A top official of the Jomoro District office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) told newsmen that about 48 buildings had their roofing blown off.

Houses built with local materials belonging to some fishermen at near the former Kwame Nkrumah Lodge at Half Assini were also destroyed. The District Chief Executive for the Area, Mr Victor Nyanyi Kabenla, has visited the area and he was accompanied by some government and NADMO officials.
