Court remands herbalist for defiling stepdaughter

Juaso (Ash), Dec. 22, GNA – Charles Danquah, a 30-year-old Herbalist has been remanded into prison custody by the Juaso Circuit Court for allegedly defiling his 9-year-old stepdaughter.

He pleaded not guilty to one count of defilement and would reappear on January 15, 2010. Police Detective Mike Fritz Bekoe, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr. S.K. Sarpong Appiah that the complainant was the mother of the victim and lived together with Danquah as couple.

On December 13, 2008 the victim complained of abdominal pains and wh= en she was interrogated by the complainant she informed her that Danquah had=

been inserting his finger into her private part whenever the complainant was away.

He said Danquah forcibly had sexual intercourse with the victim and warned her not to inform her mother.

Mr Bekoe said the complainant reported the case to Police but Danqua= h who got wind of it and went into hiding until the father of the complaina= nt spotted him at Antoakrom on December 8 and effected his arrest. The case was later handed over to the Agogo Police who arraigned him=

after investigation.
