Fire guts Nkwanta South DCE’s Office

Ho, Dec. 9, GNA – The office of the Nkwanta South District Chief Executive, Mr. Joseph Nicab, was razed by fire on Tuesday, Mr. Mathias Nugborlo, Nkwanta South District Co-ordinating Director,= told the GNA

This was shortly after a meeting in that office between the DCE and t= he Volta Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Amenowode, who was at Nkwanta as part of his week long tour of the northern sector of the region. Items destroyed included fridges, air conditioners, furniture, offic= e equipments and files.

Also destroyed were 20 boxes of street lights kept in the office for distribution to some communities by Mr. Gershon Gbediame, the Member of Parliament, for the area. Mr. Nugborlo after the meeting at about 1300 hours the DCE left with=

the Regional Minister for Kpassa and the keys to the office were handed o= ver to him by a lady who works at the assembly. He said 10 minutes later a drivers at the assembly drew his attention= to smoke in the DCE’s office. Mr Nugborlo said they tried to enter the office but the intensity of the fire prevented them from doing so and the Fire Service was called. He said it took about an hour for the fire to be put under control by=

the Fire Service, workers and some members of the community. Mr. Nugborlo commended pupils of Nkwanta Primary School and Junior Hi= gh School ‘A’ and members of the community for their assistance by fetching water for the Fire Service to fight the fire.
