NPP Constituency election ends in confusion

Accra, Nov. 23, GNA – La Dadekotopon Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) failed to elect new executive officers in Accra at the weekend, due to the confusion that marred the election. The misunderstanding arose when four of the contestant were disqualified.

It took the intervention of the Kpeshie District Police and some party elders to calm tempers.

The disqualified contestants are; Mr. Isaac Nii Armah Komey who was vying for the position of Secretary, Mr. Joe Ala Adjetey, Assistant Secretary, Mr. B.M. Kofi, First Vice Chairperson and Mr. John Tetteh Annang, Treasurer.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Nii Armah Komey expressed dissatisfaction about his disqualification after he had gone through all the prerequisite formalities such as the vetting process and had picked his ballot number without a query.

He said, according to the party’s rules and regulation, disqualified persons should be informed through writing four clear days to election, indicating reasons and thereby giving the contestant ample time to defend him or her self.
