19,732 children receive Vitamin “A” and polio vaccine in Ejura

Ejura (Ash), Nov. 20, GNA – A total of 19,732 children under 59 months in the Ejura-Sekyedumase District received vitamin ‘A’ supplements and polio vaccine during the just ended three-day National Maternal and Child Health Campaign.

Mr Jacob Amoah, the District Director of the Ghana Health Service told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that that was a big success and attributed it to the personal role played by the District Chief Executive, Ms Marther Brocket. She joined the health workers and volunteers from house-to-house to administer the vaccine and capsules.

Mr Amoah said apart from the children, 645 out of 728 lactating mothers, who gave birth not more than eight weeks ago were also given the vitamin ‘A’ capsules.

Mr Amoah said the campaign was also used to count dogs and cats in the district to help the Veterinary Services Division of the Food and Agriculture Ministry to plan its Rabies control programme.
