Stakeholders of education urged to co-operate

Nkwatia (E/R), Nov. 16, GNA – The Eastern Regional Director of Education, Mrs Rene Boakye-Boaten, on Monday urged stakeholders in education to co-operate to enforce discipline to enhance effective running of the schools.

She advised stakeholders to assist the school authorities to implement government educational programmes and policies to raise the standard of education in the country. Mrs Boakye-Boaten was inaugurating a 13-member board for the Nkwatia Presbyterian Senior High Commercial School at Nkwatia in the Kwahu North District.

She appealed to the boards to assist school heads to discharge their duties but not to usurp their powers. Mrs Boakye-Boaten urged the new board to control the general policy of educational institutions, subject to directives from the Minister of Education.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Daniel Afari, said his vision was to develop self discipline, academic excellence and moral uprightness in the students to raise their academic performance. He mentioned a major challenge facing the school with a student population of 1,200 as inadequate staff bungalows. He appealed to the district assembly and the Ministry of Education for assistance to solve some of the problems facing the school. 16 Nov. 09
