NHIB conducts nationwide assessment of health facilities

Nkoranza (B/A), Nov. 9, GNA – The National Health Insurance Board is conducting a nationwide assessment of health facilities to ascertain their viability to provide quality health services. A team of experts have therefore been deployed to visit all health facilities to implement the exercise. Areas for assessment would include infrastructure, staff, equipment, transportation, environment, water and electricity supplies and security. Mr Kofi Karbo, Brong Ahafo Deputy Regional Director of Pharmaceutical Services of the Ghana Health service announced this when he briefed about 30 health workers from Nkoranza South and Nkoranza North districts on the questionnaires for the exercise at Nkoranza. He explained that the assessment would ensure that hospitals under the health insurance scheme operated in decent environment as well as to provide quality services.

Mr Karbo called on health professionals to take stock of their activities to help improve on their performances. He urged workers to establish reliable communication system to enable them to carry out effective and efficient services. Mr Karbo stressed the importance for all health facilities to acquire Oxygen Delivery Equipment to enable them to handle and refer serious cases to the hospitals to save lives. “Since the removal of the placenta at the labour wards requires special skills and knowledge, there is the need for nurses to go through regular orientation workshops to be able to handle such cases,” he said. 9 Nov. 09
