Gomoa East DCE assumes office

Gomoa Afransi, (C/R), Nov. 4, GNA – Mr Isaac Kingsley Ehunu- Armah, has been sworn in as Gomoa East District Chief Executive (DCE) after he received 100 per cent endorsement from the assembly. Mrs Ama Benyiwaa Doe, Central Regional Minister, who administered the oath of office to Mr Ehunu -Armah cautioned him not to lord it over the people, but should rather adopt pragmatic policies and programmes to reduce poverty.

She urged the DCE to work hard and come out with new plans to increase the income of the assembly, adding that leakages of revenue was one of the major setbacks facing the district, municipal and metropolitan assemblies in the region.

Mrs Doe asked the DCE to team up with staff of the assembly to enhance development.

The Regional Minister said she would sanction any assembly, which award contracts without going through the tendering process. Mrs Doe urged the opposition parties to criticise the government constructively, saying Ghanaians had given President John Evans Atta Mills, a four- year mandate to rule.

She debunked assertion by some political opponents of the ruling National Democratic Congress that President Mills Administration was too slow to tackle problems facing the country. Mr Ehunu-Armah thanked the assembly members for the confidence repose in him and assured them that he would work hard to transform Gomoa East. He called for co-operation and understanding among the people especially the chiefs to ensure the progress of the district.
