Man jailed for attempting to kill his wife

Goaso (B/A), Oct. 27, GNA – A circuit court in Goaso has sentenced a 47-year-old teacher to 10 years in jail for attempting to kill his wife. Osei Sarpong pleaded guilty to attempting to murder 30-year-old Cynthia Mansah.

Police Chief Inspector Charles Arthur told the court that Sarpong had suspected his wife of having an affair with another man and on July 20 he saw his wife and the suspected lover emerging from a school bath house. “He asked his wife where she was coming from but her reply did not go down well with Sarpong who pulled out a cutlass and slashed the wife until she became unconscious”, the prosecutor said.

Chief Inspector Arthur said Mansah sustained severe wounds and was taken government hospital in Goaso where she was admitted and discharged after two weeks. 27 Oct 09
