Rainstorm hits Suhum and destroys property

Suhum, Oct. 23, GNA – Thirty houses including a block of six classrooms belonging to the Suhum New Town Presbyterian Primary School, part of the Ghana National Fire Service garage as well as food crops were destroyed when a rainstorm hit Suhum and its surrounding areas last Monday. The rain, which started at 1300 hours, lasted for about two hours resulting in most streams overflowing their and many vehicles were unable to ply the roads.

The most affected plac es were Suhum New Town, Suhum Ayekotse where over 20 houses were destroyed, rending over 40 people homeless and property estimated over GHC 4,000.00 destroyed. The assembly member for Suhum New Town, Mr Eric Yeboah who visited some of the affected places and the victims, expressed his sympathy to the people and appealed to the District Assembly, National Disaster Management Organization to assist the victims some of whom are putting up with friends and relatives.
