Plan Ghana honours its volunteer

Awutu Mankomeda (C/R), Oct. 21, GNA – Some 198 volunteers working in 72 operational communities of Plan Ghana, a non-governmental organisation, in the Awutu-Senya, Agona, Effutu and Gomoa administrative areas, have been awarded for their excellent performance in the past year. The awards, worth more than GHC 9,000, included wax print, cutlasses, Wellington boots and rain coats.

Mr Jacob Turkson, acting Southern Manager of Plan Ghana, said the NGO had a total community a volunteer force of 60,000 worldwide, out of which Ghana has 600 volunteers operating throughout the country. He advised Ghanaians to learn to cultivate the spirit of voluntarism.
