Agona Mansofo, C/R, Oct 11, GNA- Children of Agona Mansofo in the Central Region will no longer walk the 6.2 kilometre distance to get to the nearest school because a benefactor has provided one for them. The four-classroom block was constructed by the Seek and Save Mission International, non profitable organization, with financial support from the Western Union Foundation in the United States of America. Mr Cicafo Arhin, Executive Director of Seek and Save Mission, at a commissioning ceremony, said he decided to build the school in the town when he met children including toddlers walking to Upper Bobikuma, a distance of 6.2 kilometres to attend school last year.
He expressed the hope that the parents in the area would take advantage of facility and educate their children for them to become useful future citizens.
Mr Jacob Felix Obeng-Forson, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Agona West, receiving the keys on behalf of the people, urged parents at Mansofo and its environs to invest in their children’s education. He said expressed regret that some parents shirk their responsibilities to cater for their children, adding: “education was the only solution to reduce poverty and ignorance among our people. The MCE assured the people in the area that the assembly would provide chairs and tables by next Monday to enable the children use the facility.
Mr Obeng-Forson commended the NGO for the facility and asked the chiefs and people to maintain the block to prolong its life span. Mrs Jane Chinubuah, Agona West Municipal Director of Education, assured the parents that Ghana Education Service (GES) would send teachers to the school immediately for classes to start. She urged mothers to attend to their children especially the girl-child to enable them become responsible mothers and national future leaders. 11 Oct. 09
