Former MP advises politicians to sacrifice for their constituents

Kpedze (VR), Sept. 29, GNA – Mr Francis Aggrey Agbotse, Former Member of Parliament for Ho West Constituency on Tuesday, told politicians to be mindful of the fact that the service they render to the people is sacrificial.

“The work of a Member of Parliament demands a lot of sacrifices and self denial since you are bound to meet numerous social and occupational challenges”, he said.

Mr Agbotse made the appeal when the chiefs and people of the Kpedze traditional area and the E.P. Church at Kpedze honoured him for his dedicated service to the area, over the past 12 years, during his tenure as a Parliamentarian.

His family presented a traditional cloth while the church and the traditional area gave him plaques, citations and Kente cloths. It was during his tenure of office, that the basic schools at Kpedze, Tsamenu, Dzanyu-Dake-Abotia, Kpoeta, Abotia-Sebekope, Avewicam, Kpedze Anoe and Saviepekpodo were constructed.

Mr Agbotse explained that the achievements he made were through the effective collaboration with the chiefs and people by sharing ideas before executing any development projects.

“If you want to succeed as a political leader, tell the people the truth and involve them in decision-making, to make them feel part of the socio-economic development of their area,” he added.

Mr Agbotse advised politicians to lead exemplary lives and collaborate with all development partners in their areas so as to leave a legacy in their constituencies. Reverend R.A.Y. Daketse, Parish Pastor of the Kpedze E.P. Church, preaching on the theme “Your generosity to God’s work shall be rewarded”, said undertaking God’s work had problems and challenges and urged politicians to remain resolute and committed to their vision. He commended Mr Agbotse for his tremendous support towards the development of the constituency. 29 Sept. 09
