Ghanaian leaders asked to be servants not lords

Kumasi, Sept. 21, GNA – The Most Reverend Dr. Robert Aboagye-Mensah, out-going Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, has urged the country’s leaders to use power entrusted to them to serve the people but not to lord it over them. He also called on the leaders to promote peace and love and initiate viable projects towards the people’s survival and development. Rev. Dr Aboagye-Mensah said these in a sermon at a valedictory service held in his honour at Kumasi Diocese of the Church. He reminded people in responsible positions that they would account for their stewardship to God and the people. Rev. Dr. Aboagye-Mensah urged the leaders to take effective decisions and make good choices to reconcile and “bring people to the glory of God.” He prayed that God should guide and protect the in-coming Presiding Bishop to enable him to lead “His Church” and win more souls for Christ. The Rt. Rev. Professor Emmanuel Kwaku Asante, the Diocesan Bishop and Presiding Bishop-elect, asked God to shower his blessings on Rev. Dr Aboagye-Mensah and his family so that they would be able “to carry the banner of God aloft”. Rev. Prof Asante praised the out-going Presiding Bishop for his contribution to the development of the Church. The Presiding Bishop-elect asked Rev. Dr Aboagye-Mensah to continue to be of service to the Church’s Seminary and University despite his new appointment at the All African Council of Churches.
