Kumasi, Sept. 19, GNA – An Islamic Scholar has called on Muslims to embrace the virtues of the Ramadan by using the Eid-Ul-Fitr to promote good neighbourliness.
Sheikh Dr Ismail Saeed Adam said the Ramadan served as a period for Muslims to renew their commitment to the word of Allah and should therefore refrain from acts that had the tendency to draw them to evil deeds.
He was speaking at the closing session of the reading and translation of the Holy Quran to climax the end of the 30-day fasting at the Sawaba Mosque in Kumasi.
The occasion was also used to preach to the Muslims to reflect on the tenets of the Holy Quran to lead exemplary lives. Sheikh Adam, who is the Ashanti Regional Deputy Imam of Al-Sunna Wajama Islamic Sect, said Islam was related to holiness, peace and unity and there was therefore the need for them to appreciate those tenets and live by them. He charged the Muslim youth to shun arrogance, violence, hatred and other vices that had the potential of discrediting the Islamic faith. The Islamic scholar, on behalf of the Sakafia Educational Complex, donated food items, copies of the Holy Quran and clothes to be distributed to the needy in the society. 19 Sept. 09
