Over 100 trucks stranded at Nkwanta

Nkwanta (V/R), Sept 17, GNA – Over 100 trucks carrying foodstuffs are stranded in the northern part of the Volta Region following heavy rainfall that has rendered portions of the Nkwanta/Hohoe/Accra road impassable.

Trucks carrying yams, cereals and passengers are deep in mud since Sunday at Salifu on the Nkwanta/Kadjebi road. Other impassable portions of the road are at Kankyi Kura, Kpeve junction and Otikeb. Mr Joseph Nikab, Nkwanta District Chief Executive who briefed the Ghana News Agency, described the situation as “very serious” and appealed to the Ministry of Roads and Highways and other related agencies to move swiftly to assist.
