Timber firm donates to school project

Kumasi, Sept 14, GNA – Log Court Limited, a timber firm operating at the Kaasi Industrial Area in Kumasi, at the weekend donated 50 bags of cement valued at GH¢650 to support the construction of an additional two-storey classroom block for the local M/A Basic School. This was in response to an appeal made to it by the community. Mr Alhassan Ahmed, Managing Director of the firm, said the company saw it as part of its social responsibility to join in efforts at promoting education.

He pledged continued assistance for self-help projects initiated to improve the lives of the people.

Mr Charles Oduro Acheampong, Assemblyman for the area, receiving the items, thanked the company for the gesture and appealed to other companies to emulate.

He also called on the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to complement the efforts of the community through the supply of building materials.

About GH¢1,500 had so far been spent on the project, work on which started about six months ago. Mr Acheampong said he was hopeful that it would be completed on schedule to end the present double stream system. 14 Sept 09
