Krachi West District to Benefit from Projects

Kete-Krachi, Sept 8, GNA – Krachi West District Assembly is to benefit from the Local Service Delivery and Governance Programme (LSDGP) worth GHc 288,954. The LSDGP, now the District Works Department (DWD) comprises Department of Feeder Roads, Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Rural Housing and Cottage Industries.

The programme, co-financed by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) and the Danish government has unified the various works units at the district level into one department with a common head for efficiency and effective delivery. An amount of GHc 160,000 of the total amount was allocated to the road sector while the rest would go into the provision of water and sanitation facilities. Mr Moses Ponye, Krachi West District Chief Executive, told the Ghana News Agency that two ferro cement tanks, five six-seat institutional KVIPs would be constructed. He said additionally the eight-kilometre Ehiamankyene junction-Ehiamankyene road and Old Osramane-New Osramane would receive attention with capacity building activities for women groupings, school health committees and health promotion awareness. 08 Sept 09
