Self styled businessman in trouble for fraud

Asamankese, Sept. 6, GNA – A self-styled businessman, Kwadwo Mensah Takyi, has been remanded in prison custody by the Asamankese Circuit Court, for defrauding two persons of a total amount of GHC 6,400, under the pretext of securing for them Swiss Visas. He pleaded guilty on the two counts and would re-appear on September 9.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Eric Zorh, said early in January this year, Takyi collected various sums of money from Simon Osei Mireku, a site consultant, amounting to GHC the 4,200 and Emmanuel Ntiamoah, an Accountant, of GHC 2,200, promising to procure Swiss Visas for them, but failed to do so.

On January 30, the two men became suspicious of Takyi’s activities and reported the matter to the police. Takyi was arrested and granted bail, during police investigations, but he went into hiding.

The prosecutor said a report was later received by the Asuom police that, Takyi has been arrested at Sampa, in the Brong Ahafo Region, for indulging in similar cases. Takyi was then brought back to Asoum from Sampa to face trial.
