Kumasi, Aug. 26, GNA – The Department of Geomantic Engineering, Kwame Nkrumah of Science Technology (KNUST), on Wednesday received a state-of-the- art surveying equipment valued at 128,431.54 dollars from a US surveying company.
The items included Trimble R8 GNSS base and Rover Receivers, PDL UHF Radio, CU-TSC2 Controller and accessories such as batteries, tripods, chargers, telescopic rods, wooden tripods, traverse set and bipods.
Trimble Navigation, a US Surveying Company, presented the items at a ceremony held at the forecourt of the University’s College of Engineering.
Mr Bryn Fosburgh, Vice President of the Company, said it was in response to a request made by the Department.
He said, he was confident that the equipment would greatly help to facilitate research work and that the KNUST would find them more useful. Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adakwah, the Vice Chancellor, receiving the items, said it had come to fill an important gap as the department was poorly equipped.
He expressed the University’s gratefulness to the company for the gesture and promised that they would do everything to ensure that the items were put to good use.
