WVI Sinks Improves the Economy of Krachi West District

Kete-Krachi, Aug 24, GNA – World Vision International (WVI) – Ghana, has spent about GHc 220,000 in the Krachi West District Assembly on education, provision of water and sanitation facilities, drugs and medical equipment.

Mr Moses Kwame Ponye, the District Chief Executive who was speaking at the first meeting of the assembly, said WVI-Ghana was building two three-unit classroom blocks with ancillary facilities at Kete SDA Primary and is renovating the old classroom block. Mr Ponye commended the organisation sponsoring over 1,000 basic school pupils and students. He said the support package includes uniforms, healthcare, books and cash and it would continue as long as WVI continues to work in the district.

Mr Ponye said 15 boreholes would be sunk in the area this year with eleven already completed and handed over to communities including Lonkotor, Twereso, Boafri, Bomboden and Kakraka. He said Afram Plains Development Organisation, with support from Water Partners, a foreign donor organisation, are drilling four new boreholes and rehabilitating five broken-own ones at the cost of about GHc 55,000.
