Yilo Krobo Traditional Council announces death of Konor

Koforidua, Aug. 11, GNA – The Yilo Krobo Traditional Council has officially informed the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, of the death of the Konor of the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Narh Dawutey Ologo VI.

The acting President of the Traditional Council, Nene Tetteh Odonkor Tuumeh, on Monday, led the delegation from the Traditional Council and some family members of the late Konor, to the Regional Administration.

The Konor, who died at the age of 72, was enstooled in 1978 and was made a Member of the Council of State from 1996 to 2000. In 2004, he was elected as the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs for a four year term and was re-elected in 2008. On behalf of the Government, and the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), Mr Ofosu-Ampofo extended his condolences to the chiefs and people of Yilo Krobo for the loss of their Konor.

He described the late Konor as a good traditional authority and a statesman who was dedicated to his duties and said his death was a great loss to the Eastern Region and Ghana as a whole.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said the Konor was a peace loving fellow and, therefore, appealed to the Yilo Krobo Traditional Council to ensure that during his burial and the installation of a new Konor, there would be peace. The Konor is scheduled to be buried in December.
