Family of late Chereponi MP calls on Mills

Accra, Aug. 7, GNA – Members of Parliament (MP) and family of the late MP for Chereponi, Doris Asibi Seidu, have called on President J.E.A. Mills to announce her death, an official statement from the Castle said on Friday.

The delegation to the Castle was led by the Majority Leader Alban Bagbin, who paid glowing tribute to the late MP for the work she did for her constituents, Parliament and the country.

The family informed the President that the MP who died last Saturday, would be buried in Chereponi in the Northern Region on August 10.

The President expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the late MP, her constituents and the minority in Parliament. President Mills said the State appreciated the work of the late MP and her ability to ensure peace in her constituency. The President assured the family that the Government would be fully represented at the funeral, and would offer the family any assistance they may require. Other members of the delegation included Foreign Minister Muhammad Mumuni and Mrs Eugenia Kusi, Deputy Minority leader. 7 Aug. 09
