Assembly members urged to check illegal tree felling

Kodie (Ash), Aug. 2, GNA – Mr Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya-Kwabre, has called on the Assembly members to help check illegal tree felling in the district. He said relay of information on the activities of the operators to his office would be enough for his outfit to cause the arrest of the perpetrators and bring them to book.

Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku was addressing an ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Kodie. The DCE advised members to redouble their efforts and help the Assembly to address pertinent problems militating against the progress of the district. “We do not have to postpone issues on development. If we say we can’t and stay aloof then, it means we are fighting a loosing battle. Let’s re-double our efforts to help ensure the development and welfare of the people”.

Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku said change was not an easy thing and it therefore behoved them to be committed and dedicated to support the rapid development of the district. He further appealed to members to help to protect and defend public places earmarked for development purposes saying, “don’t wait for developers to start working on the land before you inform the assembly”.
