Lower Manya District Assembly fails to elect Presiding Member

Odumase Krobo, July 24, GNA – The 43-member Lower Manya Krobo District Assembly on Thursday failed to elect a Presiding Member (PM), after two rounds of voting. Mr Theophilus Quist polled 22 votes in the first round, while his challenger, Mr Walter David Homenu, had 19 votes with two assembly members absent.

Mr Quist polled 23 votes in the second round and Mr Homenu had 17 votes while three members were absent. After consultation with officials from the Electoral Commission (EC), the house decided to adjourn proceedings to Friday to have another round of election, since none of the two contestants had secured the required majority votes. 24 July 09
