Ghana’s President, Mr. J. A Kufuor left Accra yesterday for Burkina Faso on an aircraft that belongs to Ashanti Goldfields Company (AGC). The use of the AGC aircraft became necessary due to the Presidents refusal to use the Gulfstream III aircraft that was acquired by the NDC government for use as Presidential jet.
According to the new government, the mode of acquisition of the Gulfstream jet leaves much to be desired hence their decision to investigate and if possible resell it.
The President’s trip which, ends today is at the invitation of the Burkinabe President, Blaise Campoare and is a follow-up to Mr. Campoare’s visit to Ghana during Mr. Kufuor’s inauguration on January 7, this year. It is also part of measures of the President’s measures to strengthen relations with neighbouring countries.
The visit would afford the two countries the opportunity to discuss bilateral relationships. The two Presidents and their delegations are also expected to discuss matters affecting ECOWAS with regard to its strengthening, eradication of poverty among others. The situation at Sierra Leone is also likely to be discussed.
