Cape Coast, July 9, GNA – Several residents in Cape Coast on Thursday morning, displayed their excitement over the visit of US President Barrack Obama when they rushed to catch a glimpse of four United States helicopters on a surveillance flight to the town. The four helicopters flew over and landed at each of the three possible venues the US President is expected to land. These are the Victoria (Jubilee) Park, the University of Cape Coast grounds and the Robert Mensah Stadium.
It was a race for the fittest, as people of all ages, ran as fast as their legs could carry them, when the helicopters, two of which bore the inscription “US Marine” and the other two “United States of America” flying the US flag, the ‘Star and Spangled Banner,’ landed. A group of youth, all of them sporting ‘T’ Shirts with pictures of both the Ghanaian and US Presidents printed boldly at the front drummed and sang in praise of the US President.
Although no-one was allowed to get near the helicopters, many of the excited residents took photographs and their conversations indicated that they were eagerly waiting to welcome the US President. Meanwhile the police are also testing their security readiness by patrolling streets of the town, with blurring sirens.
