Only one NPP National Officer to seek re-election?

In December this year, the National Delegates’ conference, a meeting of the supreme decision-making body of the party , will be held during which delegates will review the party’s performance in the 2008 elections as well as and make very crucial resolutions towards the coming year among which will be the election of National Party Executives.

The issue of which set of people form the next leadership of the party has become topical among the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party ever since the party failed to retain political power in the 2008 elections.

Information reaching the Statesman indicates that none of the National officers of the NPP with the exception of Nana Ohene Ntow, General Secretary of the party, will stand for re-election at the party”s upcoming National Delegates’ Conference scheduled for December this year.

It can be recalled that on the 22nd of June 2009, National Chairman of the NPP, Peter Mac Manu ruled himself out of contention for re-election as Party Chairman. He decision not to seek re-election stemmed from the NPP’s inability to retain political power in the 2008 Presidential Polls.

The Statesman can report that John Boadu, National Youth Organiser, and Lord Commey, National Organiser will not contest their respective positions in the December delegates’ congress. Both National Vice Chairpersons will also not seek re-election.

This latest development will thus give way for persons with other innovative ideas to come on board to help the NPP win the 2012 elections. By: The Statesman
