Residents of Apaumanase appeal for rehabilitation of their road

Suhum, June 26, GNA – Residents of Apaumanase in the Suhum-Kraboa Coaltar District, on Friday appealed to the District Assembly and the Department of Feeder Roads to rehabilitate the eight kilometre road in the town, which is in a very deplorable condition. Pastor Francis Kofi Tenge, Assembly Member for Apaumanase Electoral Area and Mr Emmanuel Ahia Agbo, Secretary, Town Development Committee, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that, the bad nature of the road was hampering social and economic activities in the area. Pastor Tenge said the poor nature of the road had been worsened with recent heavy rains and appealed that something was done about the situation soon.

He said due to the bad nature of the road, drivers were refusing to ply that route resulting in their inability to convey their food crops to marketing centres for sale. Pastor Tenge said a pregnant woman lost her life recently due to the absence of a vehicle to convey her to Suhum Government Hospital. He said last year six people died of snake bite in the area because there were no vehicles to convey them to a hospital.
