Catholics intensify evangelization to win more faithful

Tema, May 31, GNA – The Roman Catholic Church on Saturday declared its stance that it is not in competition with any other church to evangelize to the people. It therefore debunked speculation that the church was intensifying its evangelization to compete with other churches. This remark was made by Mr Callistus Kwasi Bismarck, chairman of Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Parish Council in Tema.

He explained that the Church was going by the command Christ Jesus gave to His disciples to preach the Good News to the people. He told newsmen in an interview during a day’s seminar on evangelization held for the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Laity Council that the Church would intensify its evangelization through the print and electronic media to propagate the Good News to the people, especially the unbelievers.

It will also embark on visitations to homes, workplaces, markets, schools and others places to spread the Gospel. Speaking on the theme; “Go the mass is ended: commission to evangelization,” Mr Bismarck stated that the Catholic Church ceases to exist if it did not reach the people with good tidings and this could be achieved through evangelization.

The parish chairman also refuted the notion that Catholics worship Mary, the mother of Christ Jesus and said, “we give due respect to Mary as her status of the mother whose son died to save the life of mankind”, adding that God prepared her for a special mission, hence her remembrance all the time. 31 May 09 Attention recipients: Item 08 ends our second transmission
