Youth urged to go into agriculture

Kasoa (C/R), May 11, GNA – Mr Emmanuel S. Martey, Effutu Municipal and Awutu-Senya District Coordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC), has advised the youth to go into agriculture and other productive ventures to promote the economy. The NYC coordinator, who was addressing Muslim youth group, at America Down, a suburb of Kasoa, said gone were the days when agricultural activities were considered jobs for the illiterate.

Mr. Martey advised the youth not to involve themselves in conflicts but to channel their energies into useful ventures. He said NYC was determined to see the youth engaging in agriculture, and asked them to take advantage the Youth in Agriculture Programme to help reduce unemployment in the country. Mr Martey said the NYC was monitoring youth organisations that have registered with it ensure that such groups did not engage in negative acts. He appealed to parents to invest in the education and training of their children.
