Methodist Church holds 30th synod

Adweso (E/R), May 8, GNA – The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Baba Jamal turned the formal opening ceremony of the 30th Annual Synod of the Koforidua Diocese of the Methodist Church into celebration of his 40th birthday on Thursday at Adweso near Koforidua. Mr Jamal, who was invited to deliver his address, announced at the beginning of the speech that he was happy he was beginning the celebration of his 40th birthday at the church premises. The whole church broke into singing “Happy Birthday” after which Rt Rev. Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah, the Presiding Bishop of the Church, said prayers for God’s blessing and guidance for the Deputy Regional Minister and his family.

In a fraternal message to the synod the Deputy Eastern Regional Commander of the Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police) David N. Ampa-Bennin, expressed his appreciation to the church for establishing playing rounds that contribute to drawing the youth away from crime. He said when establishing its social services, the church should consider the construction of police stations and barracks as part of the church’s contribution to crime reduction society.
