Civil Servants’ Association appeals to review stand

Accra, May 4, GNA – The Civil Servants’ Association (CSA) has appealed to the government to review its position of bringing people from outside to head the Civil Service. Such a situation, the CSA said, demoralizes those working through the ranks and that all positions are promotional grades and the aspirant gathers experience at each stage. Mr Tennyson Foli, President of the CSA, told the GNA in an interview that those brought from outside lack background information as well as experience and they had to rely on subordinates. Mr Foli said lack of experience not only resulted in late delivery but also ended up in government being ill advised leading to wrong decisions being taken. “With the civil servant at the helm of affairs he would know how to handle issues without consulting anybody and be able to package information that would help the government,” he said.
