Accra, May 1, GNA-Mrs Shine Ofori, National President of the Ghana Guidance Counsellors Association has called on students to desist from practicing occultism in schools which is eating deep into the Ghanaian society. He expressed regret that the situation where some students practice occultism and its related norms in schools do not augur well for smooth teaching and learning. Mrs Ofori made the call at a day’s Teens rally organized by the Accra Presbytery of the Global Evangelical Church in Accra on Friday. About 700 students drawn from Junior and Senior high schools in the Greater Accra Region attended the rally which is under the theme; ‘Career Choices.’ It is aimed at helping the youth to learn about choosing their career and also interact and socialize with one another. Mrs Ofori also called on heads of educational institutions to make good use of guidance counsellors in their schools for the benefit of the students.
The National President advised the participants to take their educational courses seriously and desist from all forms of negative tendencies that might ruin their future careers. Reverend Mawuko Agudogo, Parish Pastor of the Teshie branch of the church, said the youth was the future leaders of the nation and that everything possible must be done to support their growth. He appealed to parents to take active interest in the education of their wards to enable them to grow to become useful citizens.
